Giulio Franzitta
Dr. Giulio Franzitta is a marine ecologist and scientific diver, with research interest mainly focused on anthropogenic impacts on benthic communities. Currently he works as research technician at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn in Naples, where he is involved in project regarding the effects of coastal urbanization, the spread of invasive species, reserve effect of marine protected areas and the effectiveness of pilot habitat restoration interventions, in particular with regard to reef-building species and habitat-forming species. He carries out his research activities with an experimental approach both for descriptive studies and manipulative experiments.
Iacopo Bertocci
Dr. Iacopo Bertocci is currently employed as a senior researcher at University of Pisa, Department of Biology. He is interested in assessing the effects of natural and anthropogenic perturbations on coastal marine systems, with special focus on benthic assemblages from temperate habitats and their responses to factors such as harvesting of target species, coastal urbanization, environmental contamination and meteorological events. This matches some of the main themes of current ecological research, including the evaluation of the effects of climate change, the understanding of the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, the analysis of the success and impact of invasive species, and the assessment of the effectiveness of marine protected areas.
